Role of the Guard

Many people do not realise that there is a lot more to the guards job than blowing the whistle and waving the green flag. Even modern day "Conductors" have a lot more to do than check tickets!

As the Guard, you will be responsible for the Safety of the train and it's passengers, and will carry out a full safety check and brake test prior to the train entering service.During the day, if there is no ticket inspector, you will check and issue tickets and meet all our passengers to ensure they have an safe, enjoyable and pleasant day at the railway.

The Guards Role is a Safety Critical one which requires them to be passed in the Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway Rules, undertake training to be a guard, a full railway medical examination and a guards assessment, as you need to know what to do in an Emergency!.
If you are interested in becoming a guard, let us know by getting in touch.
