East Suffolk Line 150th Celebrations
The 150th anniversary of the opening of the East Suffolk
Line was celebrated very quietly on 1st June 2009. The line today is a shadow of it's former self, once part of the
London - Yarmouth Southtown mainline, with a number of branch lines, it's been reduced to a Rural
Branchline operated by RETB. As all the members of the club work this line, we felt it approriate to help with the
celebrations by dedicating a hall to the East Suffolk Line, with layouts based on the East Suffolk Line or branches.Layouts Were:
Oulton Broad North - Waveney Valley MRC
Aldeburgh - Brian Yallop
Woodbridge - Ted Cotton
Southwold - Stewart Green
We also welcomed...
John Broadrib, aurthor of An Illustrated History of the East Suffolk
Railway, from the East Suffolk Community Rail Partnership with a
collection of photos and details of East Suffolk Line Walks and sights. You can buy the book on special offer by clicking here
